Insomniac Games has assembled a “huge” development team to work on Spider-Man PS4, according to a post on the studio’s Twitter account. First spotted by GameSpot, Insomniac solicited questions raised by the community, where it also revealed that the upcoming licensed title will also be built using the same game engine as Ratchet & Clank.

Per Twitter:

Unveiled at E3 2016, Marvel Games Creative Director Bill Rosemann noted that the high-profile Spider-Man game could be a sign of things to come from the studio, as it begins to ramp up its output. Here, Rosemann confirms that Insomniac’s title will be entirely standalone, featuring a new story and world unaffiliated with Jon Watts’ 2017 blockbuster.

“I think we’ve been inspired by all the different mediums that Marvel has, whether it’s film, animation, live-action, comic books, even t-shirts. So we’re looking at everything and we’re blending it all together. But it’s standalone; all new story, all new world. We’re always stretching, we’re always challenging, we’re always moving the characters forward.”

Spider-Man is in development at Insomniac Games as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. At the time of writing, there’s no release date or even release window to report, but we’ll keep you updated if and when that changes.
