Arkane Studios has more than just Dishonored 2 in the works, as the studio has announced that they will be rebooting Prey in 2017. The news was revealed during Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference tonight.
In the rebooted Prey, players will step into the shoes of Morgan Yu, a man who has undergone several dangerous experiments conducted in order to better the human race. After being awakened on the derelict Talos 1 space ship in the year 2032, Morgan must face off against a mysterious alien race that has taken over the craft. In order to survive, he’ll need to rely on both what’s left of the ship and the dangerous abilities he has been gifted.
While news of a new Prey is intriguing, it is a bit weird that not only does the reboot share little in common with the cancelled sequel, but it barely resembles the original game in the franchise. Obviously thisĀ is more of a re-imagining than a reboot.
Prey will launch on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC next year. Bethesda has already announced that additional information on the title will come at QuakeCon, so stay tuned for more.
