Though it was already widely assumed, Jesse Eisenberg has now confirmed that he’ll reprise his role as Lex Luthor in Justice League. Production on the film is currently underway in London and while things aren’t exactly running too smoothly over there from what we’ve heard, it does appear that Warner Bros. is attempting to put their DC Extended Universe back on track by making some big changes behind the scenes.
It’s unknown how Luthor will factor into Justice League or how big of a role he’ll have, but while speaking at MCM London Comic-Con today, Eisenberg had this to share:
“I’m kind of in wait. They just started filming Justice League, so I’m kind of like waiting for my crack at it. I don’t know what I’m allowed to say, because I feel like there’s probably some drone following me from DC, and if I say anything wrong I get, you know, picked off. But yeah I think so, and I love it, and I love everybody who’s in it. You know, it’s a really talented group of people.”
Admittedly, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice kind of fumbled Luthor and he was hardly a memorable villain. That was mostly due to the writing, but also somewhat because of Eisenberg’s poor performance. Given all this, I don’t think anyone was really begging to have Lex back in the DCEU after his first outing, but it looks like he’ll be making a return anyways. Let’s just hope that they can do a better job with the character this time around.
Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
