Most fans will probably have assumed that any movie about the early life of Han Solo would have to feature an appearance from Chewbacca, but from the sounds of things it will actually delve into the origins of everyone’s favorite Wookie, as well as his iconic space-smuggling pal.
During a recent conference call (via The Wrap), Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that the younger versions of Han and Chewie would cross paths in the film, while also speaking about the much-discussed time-frame of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Rogue One … is about a band of rebels plotting to steal the plans to the Death Star. It takes place right before George Lucas‘s first film, which came out in 1977 and is now called ‘A New Hope.’
We have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy, and that’ll come after ‘Star Wars 8’ in 2018. And then there will possibly be more thereafter.
Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew recently teased a big announcement of some kind – could it be that he’s officially joining the cast of this prequel, perhaps?
The Han Solo movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and is set to hit theaters on May 25th, 2018.
