Blizzard Entertainment’s team-based tactical shooter Overwatch will release in full on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on May 24, the studio has announced.
In addition to the firm release date confirmation, Blizzard’s also announced an early access period to be held on May 3-4, with an open beta to follow on May 5. To access the former, though, you’ll need to pre-order the game. If you live in the UK, you’ll gain access to the early access period by pre-ordering from retailer GAME.
Following the head-start period on May 3-4 for those who have pre-ordered, gamers everywhere will be able to assemble a team of friends and check out the game free during the all-access period from May 5-9.
Blizzard have already held a closed beta for Overwatch on PC to gauge fan reception of the game as a whole, leading to the introduction of a whole new mode based purely on the feedback received from the beta.

Alongside standard versions of the game releasing on May 24, a limited, $130 special edition will will also be available, which includes a “full-color visual sourcebook, the Overwatch soundtrack,” and a statue of Soldier: 76, “the vigilante alter ego of former Overwatch commander Jack Morrison.” Fancy.
