After what feels like years of teasers, posters, trailers and plenty of chatter from the cast and crew, we’re now mere weeks away from the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. And to help spur the movie into its final push, Entertainment Weekly has dropped two special-edition covers featuring the titular heroes, along with a handful of fresh details.

From what we know so far, Zack Snyder’s superhero showdown picks up after the climax of Man of Steel. Remember? That city-levelling sequence wherein Supes and Zod reigned destruction down upon Metropolis? It’s already been made abundantly clear through trailers and interviews that Bruce Wayne’s devastation at the wreckage has turned to anger aimed directly at Superman. For the Man of Steel, his troubled dynamic with Batman will continue to cause him inner turmoil. So, this makes it that much easier for the nefarious Lex Luthor to meddle with the pair.

Of all the details in EW’s initial coverage, by far the most intriguing tidbit revolves around Jesse Eisenberg’s character. This Luthor is in his own league of evil compared to previous incarnations. According to the site, he “orchestrates a mass murder aimed at turning the two heavy hitters against each other but also uses some Kryptonian relics left behind from the Man of Steel aftermath to cook up a cosmic mutant Frankenstein— Doomsday, partially built from the remains of Michael Shannon’s General Zod.”

If that wasn’t enough to stoke your curiosity – a mass murder?! – then don’t despair. This is the beginning of EW’s coverage, that’s set to roll out over the course of the week. If we were to guess, it’s likely that it will include more intel on Diana Prince and Bruce Wayne’s missions to out Luthor’s secrets, along with information on a character cut from the film.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters on March 25.
