Japan’s Getting Some New PlayStation Vita Starter Kit Bundles

The PlayStation Vita may not be doing particularly well in the West, but it seems that the handheld is still pretty popular in its native Japan; Sony have two new bundles in the works for the latter. The PlayStation Vita may not be doing particularly well in the West, but it seems that the handheld is still pretty popular in its native Japan, as Sony have two new bundles in the works for the latter. These Vita Starter Kit bundles are essentially budget versions of the standard console, coming packaged with a 16GB memory card, USB cable, Wi-Fi capability and AC adapter.

The kits launch on March 3 for just under 20,000 Yen, (around $180) – far cheaper than the standard bundles already available, but there’s just one small problem. The 16GB memory card included in the kits is hardly an adequate amount of storage space, and a bigger-sized card is likely to set you back by a hefty amount of cash.

Not that all of this matters, of course. Sony’s yet to confirm whether or not the Starter Kits will even come to North America or Europe, but don’t hold your breath.

It’s no secret that the PlayStation Vita has been struggling to gain a foothold in the handheld market outside of Japan, with many citing a severe lack of games to actually play. In fact, Sony doesn’t even have any first-party games planned for the console at all, which is a shame – considering that it’s actually a bloody good device. Ah well, you win some you lose some.
