Super Bowl TV Spot For The Secret Life Of Pets Introduces The Gang

Late last night, cinephiles found themselves awash with new trailers and TV spots to pour over in anticipation of 2016's hottest new releases. From the lavish tentpole blockbusters in the vein of Independence Day: Resurgence to Universal's retooled and rebooted Bourne franchise, but perhaps the one snippet to steal our hearts (outside of Bill Murray's wonderful turn as Baloo in The Jungle Book trailer) was the latest tease for Illumination Entertainment's upcoming animation, The Secret Life of Pets.

From the lavish tentpole blockbusters in the vein of Independence Day: Resurgence to Universal’s retooled and rebooted Bourne franchise, we saw it all. From temperamental furry felines to wide-eyed and adventurous canines, last night’s spot was all about introducing the film’s gang of furry companions, and you go up close and personal with each via the gallery below.

In terms of the story driving the on-screen shenanigans, The Secret Life of Pets will largely revolve around Max’s (Louis C.K.) plight to find a way back home after he and his newly-adopted ‘brother’ (Eric Stonestreet’s Duke) are separated from their doting owner.

Chris Renaud and Yarrow Cheney are behind the lens for this one, assembling a fine voice cast that includes Louis C.K. as Max, Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fame, Lake Bell, Jenny Slate, Bobby Moynihan, Hannibal Buress and Finding Nemo (and soon Finding Dory) alum, Albert Brooks.

The Secret Life of Pets roars to life on July 8.
