Construction and management simulatorĀ Prison Architect is coming to a whole wave of consoles this Spring, encouraging a whole new audience to take up the role of a kind or tyrannical prison warden – the choice is yours.
Besides including all of the features of the original version released for PC, the Xbox 360, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will come with some new and exclusive content not available on the former platform:
Prison Warden Mode: Allows players to jump in and take control of one of several preābuilt prisons right away to get into the action faster.
World of Wardens: A feature that grants you the ability to share your prisons online and try your hand at governing prisons that others have uploaded.
The console port is being developed by Double Eleven in partnership with original developer Introversion Software, and additionally comes packaged with a story and sandbox mode.
Double Eleven’s chief operating officer Mark South expressed his excitement at being chosen by Introversion to handle the transition from PC to console.
Prison Architect stands as a truly unique, thought provoking look into how one would build and operate their own Prison playing out the consequences of your decisions. We were delighted that Introversion chose us to develop and publish the console editions of Prison Architect, as one of the most respected developers in the world that meant so much to all of us as we know this is their baby. We only take on games that we enjoy and that we know we can do a stellar job of creating; both Introversion and future players deserve no less.
Neither Introversion or Double Eleven have provided a more specific release date for each platform outside of the Spring announcement, so you can probably expect to hear a more concrete date around March. As of the last update, Prison Architect has sold a whopping 1.5 million copies on PC. Let’s hope it can replicate that success on console.
