The long overdue sequel to Finding Nemo (though some have argued that it’s wholly unnecessary) is set to be released next year, and now, a new official image from Finding Dory has been unveiled to heighten our anticipation for the film.
Seen above, it features Bailey, the beluga whale voiced by Ty Burrell (Modern Family), and Destiny, the whale shark played by Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia). The latter had this to say to Entertainment Weekly about taking on what looks set to be a key role in the Finding Dory:
“We totally get on each other’s nerves. I like to think I’m a shark, but Bailey calls me a whale, and I make fun of his head, because it’s gigantic. I’m a lot nicer in this movie than I am in my television show,. You don’t really see Sweet Dee being sweet, ever. This character is. It was a lot of fun to play that and be vulnerable.”
Written and co-directed by Finding Nemo‘s Andrew Stanton, Finding Dory takes place ix months after the events of the 2003 original, as the amnesiac Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) suddenly recalls memories of her childhood and sets off with Nemo and Marlin to find her family.
The movie opens on June 27th and also stars Albert Brooks, Diane Keaton, Willem Dafoe, Dominic West, Ed O’Neill, Eugene Levy and Idris Elba.
