Star Wars: The Force Awakens has broken so many box office records at this point that it’s getting hard to keep up with them all!. As expected, it’s completely demolished almost all of the ones set by Jurassic World earlier this year, and as the movie takes aim at the domestic record set by Avatar, it has now been revealed that the J.J. Abrams-helmed release has scored huge on IMAX screens.
Climbing past the $100 million mark on IMAX screens in just 12 days, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has easily topped the 18 it took Jurassic World to get there (bear in mind that that movie had a day and date release in China).
[zergpaid]Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn’t reach China until next month, but when it does, we’re finally going to get a much more solid idea of how likely it is that the movie will end up becoming the highest grossing release of all-time. Even if it doesn’t quite manage that, box office analysts remain convinced that it will cross the $2 billion mark regardless, which is obviously an incredible achievement.
What will be interesting now is seeing if future Star Wars movie do this well or if these numbers come from the excitement surrounding the return of the franchise. Either way, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a hit, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
