First Look Promo For Supernatural Season 11, Episode 9: “O Brother Where Art Thou?”

The first promo video for the mid-season finale of Supernatural has been released and no doubt has devoted fans everywhere talking. One viewing of said video gives the impression that it will have the intensity of a season finale and perhaps be just as shocking as one. It features a burning bush, a fully matured Amara, and a returning Lucifer, whom the show has been strongly hinting at as of late.

Speaking of Amara, you can look forward to seeing Emily Swallow resuming the role. We did see her in the season premiere and in some flashbacks since, but Amara has largely been played by a variety of child actresses as she has been rapidly aging due to a steady diet of what could literally be called “soul food.” It’s likely that Swallow will be the Amara we see for the remainder of the season and now we’ll get a glimpse of what her master plan will be.

As for Lucifer, it may come as a surprise that we are seeing him this early in the season, though it’s unlikely that any fan is complaining. Although we last saw Mark Pellegrino as The Morning Star in Season Seven, he was technically a hallucination. It should be most interesting to see the interaction between he and Sam as the real Lucifer’s last appearance was in the Season Five finale.

For more details, check out the official synopsis below:

Amara (guest star Emily Swallow) unleashes her power on the local townspeople as she issues a shocking challenge. Dean (Jensen Ackles) tries to better understand the hold Amara has on him, while Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) come up with a plan that could have disastrous consequences. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Eugenie Ross-Leming & Brad Buckner (#1109). Original airdate 12/9/2015.

Supernatural airs Wednesday nights at 9:00 pm EST on The CW.
