Xbox One Elite Controller’s Popularity Has “Exceeded Planning,” Says Phil Spencer

Microsoft has seemingly been taken aback by just how popular the Xbox One Elite Controller has turned out to be. Microsoft has seemingly been taken aback by just how popular the Xbox One Elite Controller has turned out to be. Fans around the globe have been left wanting after major retailers have failed to update their stock of the premium controller for months, and Xbox boss Phil Spencer has taken to Twitter to try and quell the flames by saying demand for the peripheral has “exceeded planning” (i.e. there’s not enough stock).

Spencer further stated that:

We are working to get more in stock, sorry they’ve been so hard to find. It’s tough as I don’t want to over promise. If you find one and you want it, pick it up, sorry.

Spencer’s not kidding: Amazon is only offering the controller through third-party sellers who are asking for more than the standard retail price. According to a statement last month, however, the Software Giant said that new stock would be arriving at retailers throughout November, but that “supplies may be limited.” No kidding.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Amazon have stated that orders placed with them from now are “unlikely to be delivered until Spring 2016.”

Tell us, have you managed to get hold of an illusive Xbox One Elite Controller? If so, is it worth the hefty $150 price tag? Let us know in the comments.
