Bassjackers dropped a preview this week of their upcoming track with Reez titled “Rough,” giving fans the first glimpse of the new collaboration, due out on Musical Freedom early next month. The preview is a little over a minute in length, and will have listeners hyped for the official release.
The preview for “Rough” opens with a pounding house beat, as glitchy, chopped up vocal samples sound off in the background of the mix. Employing a variety of pitch risers and gradually building percussion, Bassjackers and Reez build up to the bass heavy drops, which feature grungy distorted synths, driving club beats, and a sinister vibe.
The preview for the upcoming track only gets us up to the first drop, but it’s enough to build anticipation for the new Bassjackers collab. The drops seem to draw on the sounds of bass house without fully committing to the genre trappings of the emerging style, which has gained exposure this year from other popular EDM producers including Jauz, Kill The Noise, and Ephwurd.
“Rough” will be released as a Beatport Exclusive on December 7.
