It’s been a long wait for the first footage from Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse, but thankfully, it’s almost here. As we reported not too long ago, the debut trailer will be attached to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so we’ve got just under a month to go now until it will be with us. As per usual, though, director Bryan Singer has taken to social media once again to tease us, this time giving us a quick glimpse of the footage.
It’s nothing too shocking, but as seen in the Instagram photo below, Professor X (James McAvoy) is donning his Cerebro helmet. Of course, without any context, it’s hard to tell what’s going on here. But still, it’s an intriguing image and one that ought to whet our appetite as we wait for the full trailer to arrive.
For more on what to expect, you can consult the official plot synopsis below:
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
X-Men Apocalypse will star McAvoy along with Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Evan Peters as Quicksilver (who will have a longer sequence this time!), Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Lucas Till as Havok, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, among others. It will be with us on May 27th, 2016.
