Nintendo of America head, Reggie Fils Aime, took some time this afternoon to announce Super Mario 3D for the Nintendo 3DS. He made mention of the fact that it is the first three-dimensional Mario title that the company has developed from scratch for a portable system. That has sparked interest in exploring the opportunity to bring back some of their retro series in full 3D.
Gameplay footage shown during the reveal looked great. It showed our favourite overall-wearing Italian plumber getting up to his usual antics, including wearing Tanuki suits. The short video did a good job of showing off some creative elements, colourful and varied environments, as well as some cool looking set pieces.
You can check it out for yourself below. Keep in mind that the video is not safe for Goombas.
