By this stage in the game, Activision Blizzard are the experts in the field of cinematic trailers, and the company’s latest sizzle reel for World of Warcraft‘s Legion expansion pack only drives that point home.
Boasting the cinematic style and grandeur that is emblematic of WoW’s scale and scope, this intro cutscene introduces fans both old and new to the lush world of the MMORPG, all the while teasing some of the new features and classes that we can expect come summer 2016. That’s when the expansion is on course to release, though Blizzard didn’t specify an exact date at this time.
BlizzCon 2015 has proved to be quite the event for the Warcraft brand, no thanks to the debutant trailer for Duncan Jones’ CG-laden blockbuster. You can check out said sizzle reel here, while the contents of Legion can be viewed below.
New Hero Class: Demon Hunter—Unleash the demon within as an all-new melee hero class gifted with preternatural mobility—and the ability to metamorphose into hellish new forms.
New Feature: Artifact Weapons—Smite the Legion with legendary weapons of lore. Earn Artifact power to unlock abilities and traits, and customize your weapon to suit your needs.
New Continent: The Broken Isles—Discover the fate of a lost night elf civilization, confront twisted fragments of the Emerald Nightmare, and hunt agents of the Legion in all-new zones.
New Feature: Order Hall—Whether you’re paladin or warlock, unite fellow NPC members of your class’s order to carry out missions at your command.
New PvP Honor System—Fight for fame, glory, and a range of new PvP-specific powers as you face the opposing faction in Arenas and Battlegrounds.
Boost to Level 100—Come fully prepared to battle the Legion with a level-100 character boost, and fight alongside your friends in this epic new chapter of World of Warcraft.
Blizzard is primed to introduce the World of Warcraft faithful to Legion at some point next summer, which aligns nicely with the “on or before September 21” release window that cropped up earlier today.
