The cameras, they are a-rolling on Scott Derrickson’s hotly-anticipated Doctor Strange standalone film, and now the first, admittedly blurry picture has emerged from the Nepal set.

Featuring Benedict Cumberbatch dressed down as the good doctor (AKA Stephen Vincent Strange), the image is by no means an official Marvel promo, and is more of an indication of the kind of locations we can expect from the 2016 feature than anything else.

Arriving by way of Twitter (via CBM), the photo itself situates Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme on a balcony surrounded by technical crew. Our guess is that this segment is from an earlier part of Derrickson’s feature, exploring the troubled beginnings of the actor’s mad scientist before he stumbles upon the magical powers that help give him his true identity.

For the longest time, fans have been left facing radio silence on Marvel’s Doctor Strange film, though now that production is officially underway, we can begin to expect more updates throughout the course of the coming months. Indeed, earlier this week brought news that Boardwalk Empire‘s Michael Stuhlbarg is heading for the astral plane – for an undisclosed role, mind you – where he’ll be joining Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen and The Martian‘s Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Currently on course for a theatrical release on November 4, 2016, Doctor Strange will explore the dark recesses of the Quantic Realm that were merely teased during Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man earlier in this year.
