While nothing is set in stone, developer Supermassive Games has revealed that it welcomes the concept of Until Dawn downloadable content.

In an interview with PlayStation LifeStyle, the studio’s Executive Producer Pete Samuels touched base on the idea of releasing more content for the acclaimed PS4 horror title, admitting that there would be some challenges to overcome before such post-launch content could come to pass.

“The underlying ‘truths’ in the story are pretty sacred,” Samuels explained. “If an expansion of any kind required us to change a truth then we wouldn’t be happy doing it. We get asked a lot for a happy ending for one character in particular. We can’t see how that could work without breaking some important truths. I’m not ruling out DLC, we just haven’t yet found the right context for it.”

It’s no secret that Until Dawn sold markedly better than either Supermassive or Sony had expected, cementing the studio’s effort as one of this year’s bona fide sleeper hits. Such success has naturally spawned conversation of a sequel, though the fact that Supermassive is at the very least entertaining the idea of DLC is music to our ears.

Further in the report, Samuels also addressed the questions regarding the game’s compatibility with virtual reality, revealing that it’s highly unlikely the current build of Until Dawn will be playable on Morpheus, Oculus or any other VR device.

“PlayStation VR cropped up in conversation a few times during development but no, we don’t expect that there’ll be an edition of the Until Dawn story to be playable in VR anytime soon,” he explained. “Not unless somebody has a sudden rush of blood!”

Until Dawn is out now on PlayStation 4.
