Above & Beyond’s Faithless Remix Restores Our Faith In Nostalgic Remixes

Leave it to Above & Beyond to make a remix series for a group on a reunion tour somehow seem tasteful. Earlier in the year, the UK trance outfit debuted a remix of legendary ’90s electronic music trio Faithless’ “Salva Mea,” and now, they’re finally ready to release it to the general public.

The iconic synth plucks of the original remain intact in Above & Beyond’s remix, which substitutes the acid house squelch of the original with a chugging, main stage-friendly progressive house rhythm. As an act with a curious knack for riding the ever-fine line between cheesy and uplifting, they make as good of candidates as any to give treatment to such a classic.

…Which is not to say they’re the only ones by any means. Avicii came under scrutiny for his butchering of “Insomnia” not too long ago, and Tiësto, Eric Prydz, Armin Van Buuren and Booka Shade will contribute remixes for Faithless 2.0 as well.

While the version above is the live debut of the track, Above & Beyond will officially release it through iTunes on August 21st. After you watch the video, listen to the original track below and let us know which version you like better by sounding off in the comments.
