Remember when everyone was terrified at the prospect of a Breaking Bad prequel series? Better Call Saul, on paper, seemed uncomfortably like a ham-fisted attempt by AMC to recapture the magic of one of its most popular series, and it was with great trepidation that fans sat down for the premiere.
Thankfully, the Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould-created series turned out to be not only a terrifically engrossing drama but an entirely different animal than the one that preceded it. To put it simply, those seven Emmy nominations were extremely well-earned.
So it’s with great excitement that we bring you a pair of images from Better Call Saul‘s upcoming sophomore season. One is a simple behind-the-scenes shot of Gilligan and Gould, but the other finds Saul Goodman Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) facing down two anonymous cronies with one of those “I’m totally screwed” expressions no one else on television right now could pull off more beautifully.
Anyway, the second season of Better Call Saul is currently shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and AMC plans to bring it back to television in early 2016. And after that game-changing season 1 ender, it’s safe to say that fans are counting down the days with bated breath.
“Better Call Saul,” which tracks small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill’s transformation into a man who puts the criminal in “criminal lawyer,” is executive produced by Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein and stars Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill, Jonathan Banks, as Mike Erhmantraut, Michael McKean as Chuck McGill, Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, Patrick Fabian as Howard Hamlin and Michael Mando as Nacho Varga.
