Overhauled Wii U Launch Title ZombiU Coming To PS4, Xbox One And PC Next Month

Given that the zombie-slaying first-person title was designed with the console’s GamePad in mind, its transition to current-gen consoles and PC has produced a series of gameplay tweaks. From a widened field of view to the overhauled mini-map, the publisher took to its official blog to detail these improvements in question.

We maintain a minimal HUD as much as possible. It disappears when not required, giving the game a very lonely feeling. If you have surround sound, the awesome sound mix from the original still stands and greatly helps immersion. As much as possible, we’ve tried to keep those key elements.

[For instance] rummaging in the backpack still doesn’t pause the game. We’ve added a dedicated button to access the backpack, which lets players see their full inventory and assign shortcut keys.

Following a premature leak via the Taiwanese ratings board, a console and PC port of ZombiU has been on the cards for weeks at this point. As a Wii U launch title, the post-apocalyptic experience proved to be not profitable, and an upgraded jump onto new platforms may be a way of leveraging those development losses.

Ubisoft will bring its port of ZombiU – now simply referred to as Zombi – to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on August 18.
