Now that Patty Jenkins (Monster) has been secured for the director’s chair on Warner Bros. and DC Comics’ Wonder Woman stand-alone, the studios are moving fast to keep star Gal Gadot in her Amazonian body armor and get cameras rolling on the monumental superhero blockbuster.

According to Empire, which just ran a cover story focusing on next year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, there are currently a ton of moving parts with regard to the blossoming WB/DC Cinematic Universe. An excerpt from the story reads:

Logistically it is staggering. As Batman V Superman gains its coat of special effects, and the various stages of editing, scoring, grading and sound mixing are completed, Deborah Snyder, along with Roven is watching over a sandbox that stretches around the world. Jenkins is in London prepping Wonder Woman, which will shoot there this autumn.

Given the amount of attention that Suicide Squad has received during filming, one can expect London to go a bit crazy this fall, with everyone angling to try to snap behind-the-scenes photos from the sure-to-be closely guarded shoot.

Plot details on the Wonder Woman solo pic are being kept tightly under wraps, but we can fill in a few interesting tidbits from what we know about the character’s introduction in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. For one, Wonder Woman is said to be extremely old, with pictures of her dating back hundreds of years, and for another, she flies into battle during Batman V Superman, so it would be surprising to get an origin story that goes backward for the character.

Chris Pine recently came aboard to play love interest Steve Trevor in the pic – in the comics, he was an army officer who “crash-lands on Paradise Island, home turf of the Amazons, during World War II. Wonder Woman nurses him back to health and eventually falls in love with him. When he returns to the outside world, she follows him.” But with Wonder Woman already rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bruce Wayne in Dawn of Justice, it seems unlikely that all that, especially the period setting, would stay intact.

Wonder Woman opens June 23, 2017.
