After teasing fans with a ruined rendition of Cairo, Bryan Singer and 20th Century Fox have now offered the stage to the fresh-faced stars of next year’s summer blockbuster, X-Men: Apocalypse.
Those wet-behind-the-ears mutants comprise Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Jubilee (Lana Condor), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Alexandra Shipp’s Storm, who also happens to be one of the Four Horsemen. Awakening from a 5,000 year slumber, Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse will find Shipp’s silver-haired force of nature in the Egyptian capital, and judging by Singer’s Instagram post from yesterday, it’s a first encounter that had serious ramifications.
[zerg]Alongside Storm on Isaac’s superpowered roster is Psylocke, Angel and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, who despite staking a claim for a peaceful life in Poland, soon finds himself dragged into the fray once more when tragedy strikes. On the other end of the spectrum, that leaves former ally and old friend Professor X with a seemingly insurmountable task on his hands, as he drops any plans for pacifism when X-Men: Apocalypse takes a turn toward world-ending chaos.
Circling back to the film’s younger stars and we understand that Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique will have an instrumental role in recruiting Kodi Smit-McPhee’s blue-skinned mutant, whereas the remaining stars will be called into action just as Apocalypse’s plan begins to take into effect.
X-Men: Apocalypse will see mutants both old and new unite against Oscar Isaac’s titular menace when Bryan Singer’s sequel debuts on May 27, 2016.
