With little over a month to go until its anticipated premiere, Entertainment Weekly – along with IGN, The Wrap and TV Line – has debuted an exclusive image for AMC’s forthcoming companion series, Fear the Walking Dead.
Showcasing the likes of Orange Is the New Black star Elizabeth Rodriguez alongside her son Christopher (Lorenzo James Henrie), the stills are really designed to introduce the new faces of AMC’s zombie survival team. Shifting the apocalyptic story to the West Coast, the network has confirmed that the show will primarily take place in Los Angeles as the end of the world looms large.
Fear the Walking Dead brought the zombie apocalypse to Hall H with the show’s maiden trailer. Amid the chaos, we seen signs of a patient zero, mass panic, and a core, nuclear family – headed up by Cliff Curtis and Kim Dickens’ parents – at the heart of the series. Given that the network’s flagship The Walking Dead opted to forgo those formative first days of the zombie apocalypse, it’ll be interesting to see how AMC’s new kid on the block handles an overly familiar outbreak story; and whether the shows will every cross paths further down the road.
AMC is primed to bring Fear the Walking Dead to the wanting masses on August 23. Special thanks to EW, IGN, The Wrap and TV Line for these stills.
A companion series to “The Walking Dead,” the #1 show on television among adults 18-49, “Fear the Walking Dead” takes us back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse – a time when the world was changing rapidly for reasons unknown, before anyone understood exactly what was happening, when life as everyone knew it was upended and altered in ways no one could have ever imagined.
