Warner Bros. took over Hall H today for a flashy presentation of its upcoming slate, and to get things started, it dropped a slick, sexy new trailer for next month’s spy actioner The Man from U.N.C.L.E..
The five-minute look at the Guy Ritchie-directed film recalls Roger Moore’s James Bond films in the best way possible, complete with debonair secret agents, fine suits and awesome gadgets. Though the Comic-Con crowd didn’t have the most wild applause for the film there, that was more a by-product of overwhelming excitement for the DC Comics slate, which we’ll report on later today.
Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer star in the pic, which also features Elizabeth Debicki, Jared Harris and Alicia Vikander. Synopsis is below:
Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s period of the Cold War, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. centers on U.N.C.L.E. agents Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin. The two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find her and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. arrives August 14.
