Paramount Pictures is launching headfirst into its marketing campaign for this fall’s hilarious-looking Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (formerly Scouts vs. Zombies), with new clips and poster from the edgy horror-comedy.
In the first clip, three scouts (Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller and Joey Morgan) and a cocktail waitress (Halston Sage) face off against a gaggle of zombie cats. It’s a ridiculous little sneak peek clearly meant to recall the irreverent grotesquerie of Zombieland. Some other clips landed online shortly after that first one, and they’re below as well.
Whether this pic will have that horror-comedy’s teeth remains to be seen, however. With the focus on young scouts using their survival skills to survive a zombie apocalypse, an R-rating would come as a surprise, which means we’ll probably get a lot of those somewhat poorly rendered zombie animals in place of any legitimately terrifying undead creatures.
Still, the premise of a band of scouts facing off against legions of brain-munchers in order to save their town holds a lot of promise, and it will be great to see a lighter-hearted zombie flick this fall amid all the typical Halloween fare.
Directed by Christopher Landon from a script by Emi Mochizuki & Carrie Evans and Landon, Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse will be hitting theaters on October 30. Check out the other clips and a new poster for the flick below, which offers an atypical take on the good ol’ Swiss Army Knife.
