New Trailer For The Peanuts Movie Reminds Us Why We Love Charlie Brown

The new trailer for The Peanuts Movie is here, and to my great relief, it's actually pretty good. When the project was first announced, I was really concerned that it would be an Alvin and the Chipmunks-style cash-grab, devoid of any of the original cartoon's warmth. But the new trailer is charming beyond measure, centering on the arrival of a cute, new girl in town who immediately steals Charlie Brown's heart.

The animation looks terrific and extremely reverent to the original Peanuts cartoons, while the stories – two quests, one undertaken by Charlie Brown and the other by his beloved beagle Snoopy – seem appropriately cute and good-natured.

The Peanuts Movie boasts a script penned by Schulz’s son Craig Schulz, grandson Bryan Schulz and co-writer Cornelius Uliano. Horton Hears A Who director Steve Martino sat behind the camera, with Bridesmaids‘ Paul Feig producing. The team behind this one seems like it really understands why audiences have long loved Schulz’s characters, so I’ll be excited to see the finished product on November 6.

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved “Peanuts” gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state-of-the-art 3D animation. Snoopy, the world’s most lovable beagle—and flying ace—embarks upon his greatest mission as he takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis The Red Baron, while his best pal, Charlie Brown, begins his own epic quest. From the imagination of Charles M. Schulz and the creators of the ICE AGE films, THE PEANUTS MOVIE will prove that every underdog has his day.
