Crossbones Revealed On Set Of Captain America: Civil War

With production underway on Captain America: Civil War, some action-packed shots of the First Avenger (Chris Evans) and his wingman Falcon (Anthony Mackie) are leaking out onto the web, revealing slightly new costumes for both as the pair make their way through an African marketplace. Could this be the setting of that international incident responsible for dividing the Avengers over the issue of government oversight and accountability?

With production underway on Captain America: Civil War, some action-packed shots of the First Avenger (Chris Evans) and his wingman Falcon (Anthony Mackie) are leaking out onto the web, revealing slightly new costumes for both as the pair make their way through an African marketplace. Could this be the setting of that international incident responsible for dividing the Avengers over the issue of government oversight and accountability? It looks like something is about to go down, because Crossbones (Frank Grillo) is on scene, looking awesomely menacing in his new armor.

Also included are shots from the funeral scene, believed to be for Captain America’s WWII girlfriend Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), who was last seen as a very elderly woman in The Winter Soldier. We already knew that the Cap and Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) would be in attendance, but now it seems that Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) will also show up to pay her respects (despite never meeting the woman).

The new threads for Falcon are cool, with a more militarized feel, and the slightly darker blue for Captain America’s costume also looks pretty great. But the real catch here is Crossbones, who had not been revealed until today. The villain looks every bit as dangerous as fans had hoped.

The pic, to be directed by Marvel darlings Joe and Anthony Russo, is set to be a monumental event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Seemingly the entire cast of Avengers: Age of Ultron is back for the Phase Three entry, along with newcomers including Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther and Marvel’s newly coronated Spider-Man, believed to be played by Asa Butterfield.

The full lineup for the film includes Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine, Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/ Crossbones, William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and Martin Freeman.

Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6, 2016.
