One of Ryan Murphy’s repeat offenders has signed on for more of his deranged antics in American Horror Story season 5. Sarah Paulson, who appeared in all four previous seasons, is now the latest in a long line of returning franchise faces to sign on for this next chapter.
Dubbed American Horror Story: Hotel, this new stage in the series’ anthology structure is set to be a complete overhaul (or an “unusually large reinvention,” to use the words of FX executive John Landgraf) of what we’ve seen in past seasons. One factor which will assuredly mark it as a new step in the AHS mythology is the notable omission of one major cast member: Jessica Lange. Still, even though Lange has turned in her crazy card, there’s plenty of other folks returning to the fold to accompany Paulson.
The actress will be joined by Kathy Bates, Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley and Chloë Sevigny. All except Gaga have made appearances in previous seasons, but due to the show’s format none will be reprising those roles. And, seeing as FX is remaining tightlipped on all of the actors’ character profiles, there’s little to report in terms of the story of Hotel or the crazy people who inhabit its no-doubt sinister walls.
With production set to begin on American Horror Story: Hotel shortly, we can expect a raft of new information to hit the web in the coming weeks. We’ll keep you posted when any developments arise.
