James Wan’s Furious 7 was another high-octane, explosive entry into one of cinema’s most exciting franchises. It’s won approval from both critics and fans alike, and is currently tearing it up at the box office. While it’s safe to say that the entire film is a roller coaster ride from start to finish, several moments certainly stand out. So, on that note, here are 8 of our favorite scenes from Furious 7 that prove just how badass this film really is.

The conflict between Dom and Shaw is the centerpiece of Furious 7, but it takes awhile for the two to actually meet face to face. Already the hate is seething between them, though, as they engage for the first time in a vicious game of chicken that does not end as most games of chicken do.

Truly one of the most exciting set pieces in Furious 7 is the intense car chase off the top of a building in Abu Dhabi…and right through the windows of two more buildings. You have to see it to believe it, but the entire scene leads up to this gravity-defying moment of badassery. While I doubt this is even physically possible, it’s still pretty spectacular.

Let’s face it: there are few things more badass than two undoubted badasses beating the crap out of each other. In an early scene in Furious 7, that’s exactly what happens, as Jason Statham’s villainous Deckerd Shaw meets Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs for the very first time. The result is a flurry of fists, flexing muscles, and fabulously bald heads, as Hobbs’s wrestling-inspired moves go up against Shaw’s wild martial arts.

While Furious 7 has its share of female objectification, the sole fight between two female characters is a knock-down, drag-out affair, as Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty squares off against a female bodyguard played by UFC fighter Ronda Rousey – and the results are very violent. It’s an awesome fight, made more awesome when you realize that it’s pretty much on par with the fights that the men get into.

You knew it was coming, but it’s still pretty badass. In order to pull off an impossible rescue, our team decides that the best way is just to parachute their suped-up, reinforced cars onto a mountain road. This provides some comic relief in the form of Tyrese Gibson’s Roman, who would really prefer to stay in the airplane, and marks the beginning of a nail-biting, fist-pumping chase. In short, it’s pure awesomeness.

You don’t hire Tony Jaa and then not give him something awesome to do. There are several badass fight scenes between Paul Walker’s Brian and Jaa’s Kiet, but the first one – on a moving bus heading straight for a cliff – is the best. Like the fight between Hobbs and Shaw, it’s a conflict of styles that works brilliantly and had our adrenaline pumping the whole way through.

Having sat out for much of the film, Hobbs returns in a big way when baddies lay siege to Los Angeles. This is Dwayne Johnson, after all, so when duty calls he climbs right out of his hospital bed and proceeds to flex his biceps so much that the cast just sort of crumbles around it. Kissing his daughter good-bye, he tells her that “Daddy has to go to work.” Yes, he certainly does.

As the capper to one of the film’s many car chases, Dom finds himself cornered by the henchmen of main villain Mose Jackande (Djimon Hounsou). Faced with certain capture or annihilation, Dom tells his passenger to put on her helmet, pulls a dust-kicking donut and…drives right off the cliff behind him.
