Sony Pictures struck gold with its horror-tinged animated jaunt Hotel Transylvania. The 2012 outing, about the goings-on in Dracula’s monsters-only vacation spot, netted $358 million at the global box office and proved that not all movies starring Adam Sandler are bargain bin fodder. With a sequel in the can and the final touches currently being instated, the studio has now dropped the first trailer for Hotel Transylvania 2.
Original director Genndy Tartakovsky (also responsible for cooking up the promising new Popeye outing) is back at the helm for the follow-up, which revolves around a family get-together, with the bloodsucking hotelier Dracula (voiced by Sandler) awaiting the arrival of his father, Vlad (voiced by Mel Brooks). His real joy in life seems to stem from time with his half-human, half-vamp grandson, who he can be spotted teaching how to fly in this first preview.
In addition to Sandler and Brooks, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, and Keegan-Michael Key are all lending their vocal talents for a sequel that promises to be as funny as the original.
Penned by Sandler and SNL‘s Robert Smigel, Hotel Transylvania 2 hits cinemas on September 25th
The Drac pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 2! Everything seems to be changing for the better at Hotel Transylvania… Dracula’s rigid monster-only hotel policy has finally relaxed, opening up its doors to human guests. But behind closed coffins, Drac is worried that his adorable half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing signs of being a vampire.
So while Mavis is busy visiting her human in-laws with Johnny – and in for a major cultural shock of her own – “Vampa” Drac enlists his friends Frank, Murray, Wayne and Griffin to put Dennis through a “monster-in-training” boot camp. But little do they know that Drac’s grumpy and very old, old, old school dad Vlad is about to pay a family visit to the hotel. And when Vlad finds out that his great-grandson is not a pure blood – and humans are now welcome at Hotel Transylvania – things are going to get batty!
