Gal Gadot In Talks For Keeping Up With The Joneses As Wonder Woman Start Date Pegged For This Fall

Before donning the superhero guise for her title role as Diana Prince in Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman adaptation, Fast and Furious starlet Gal Gadot may appear alongside Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher and Jon Hamm in the Greg Mottola-directed comedy, Keeping Up With the Joneses, according to a report published by Deadline.

Should Gadot board the project, it would mean that the actress’ schedule for the rest of the year would be packed full, as Warner Bros. confirmed over the weekend that production on Michelle MacLaren’s superhero flick would get underway in the fall of this year. The filmmaker will helm a script provided by Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift, Pan).

As for Keeping Up With the Joneses, Mottola’s film will orbit around a couple who soon discover that their next door neighbours are not what they appear. We assume that Galifianakis and Fisher will play one of the loved-up pairing, while Hamm and Gadot will embody the second. Granted, it’s worth noting that the latter’s place in the movie is yet to be confirmed in earnest, considering that such a commitment may lead to a clash with Wonder Woman.

Speaking of which, last we heard of Warner Bros. big-screen rendition of Miss. Prince, it was hinted that the studio would release the story of the titular superhero as a trilogy, with the first installment — due to be released in 2016 — orbiting around her origin story in the 1920s. Such a strategy would see the audience be introduced to Wonder Woman at a time when the US is still acclimatizing to equal rights, and could serve as a good jumping off point for the development of the beloved heroine.

As things stand, Gal Gadot will first appear as the Amazonian warrior in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice next year, before leading the Wonder Woman standalone film when it makes its bow on June 23, 2017.
