Over the course of his career in high-profile films, Kyle Chandler’s involvement has been in the form of the supporting role more often than not, with Zero Dark Thirty, Argo or The Wolf of Wall Street being the most recent examples. For his next project, though, the actor is set to change tact to embody John Rayburn in Netflix’s upcoming family drama Bloodline.
In the series, Chandler’s character is one of four adult children of a wealthy family situated in Florida Keys. But their affluent livelihoods aren’t filled with sunshine and rainbows 24/7, as evidenced by the abrupt arrival of their estranged eldest brother, Danny (Exodus: Gods and Kings‘ Ben Mendelsohn), who flips the convention of the prodigal son on its head.
The trailer above does a solid job of ramping up the tension without revealing the core reason behind Danny’s sudden return, but given that it seeds gunfights, explosions and nine kinds of familial arguments, we don’t expect that it’s good news. Rounding out the cast are Linda Cardellini and Norbert Leo Butz as the remaining two siblings, while Sissy Spacek and Sam Shepard play their parents
In keeping with tradition, Netflix will premiere all 13 episodes of Bloodline for your binging pleasure on March 20th.
