Few games have stolen the hearts and minds of gamers in recent years in the manner of thatgamecompany’s minimalistic, ethereal adventure, Journey. Released in 2012, the title swept the board, garnering praise for its wonderful style and compelling, almost existential themes, not to mention its stark visual style.
And late last year, Sony confirmed that the acclaimed indie would be making its way to PlayStation 4 via porting studio Tricky Pixels, who recently provided an update on the status of the current-gen version, saying that it’s “not too far off.”
@NaughtyGods Tricky Pixels is still working on the port, and it won’t be announced until it’s been completed, but it’s not too far off.

Much like all ports from one generation to the next, users can look forward to revamped visuals along with a smoother frame-rate; in fact, thatgamecompany — the original developers of the game — stated that the PS4 port will run at or close to 60 frames-per-second. With that in mind, we can all look forward to gliding down those lush sand dunes against the sunset in silky smooth fashion.
Unfortunately, there is still no word on a specific release date for the port of thatgamecompany’s magnum opus, but we’ll keep you updated on the status of the PlayStation 4 version of Journey as we learn more.
