Despite suffering a release date snafu, The Wachowskis’ next sci-fi effort, Jupiter Ascending, is eager to remind audiences of its existence via some new snazzy artwork. For the most part, character posters don’t tend to offer the prospective cinemagoer much in the way of inspiration. While this new quartet that’s landed (via IGN) aren’t eye-poppingly unique, they’ve got the sci-fi tropes in place, further sparking interest in the galaxy quest.
The four new posters showcase the central figures in the movie; Channing Tatum’s genetically-modified Caine, Mila Kunis as the titular Jupiter Jones, Eddie Redmayne as Balem and Sean Penn in the role of Stinger. It’s worth noting that the latter one-sheet contains an easter egg that warrants exploring. If you zoom in close, you can see that on Bean’s poster the URL points to a site called cwastronomers.org. Established as a viral marketing effort, there’s only a bit to investigate now, but the content ought to expand closer to the film’s release date next year.
Available for your viewing pleasure in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D, Jupiter Ascending is set to arrive in theatres on February 6th, 2015.
From the streets of Chicago to the far-flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), who was born under a night sky, with signs predicting she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
