AMC’s Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul, is set to debut on the network this coming February. Created by Bad‘s Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, the show’s ten episode run will kickstart in a spectacular fashion with a double-night premiere on February 8th and 9th at 10pm. Following that explosive double whammy opening, the show will settle into a regular Monday night 10pm slot. It was via press release that AMC unveiled the news, along with a brief 30-second teaser, which you can see below.
This February, during AMC’s first ever two-night series premiere event, we’re going to introduce Jimmy McGill to the world. Known to Breaking Bad fans as Saul Goodman, viewers will soon discover Saul wasn’t always Albuquerque’s top criminal (criminal) lawyer. Huge thanks to Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, Bob Odenkirk, our partners at Sony, and the entire team. We’re thrilled to be cooking together again.
Starring Bob Odenkirk as the mouthy lawyer with a heart of gold, Better Call Saul will chart his humble beginnings. Before he emerged as the crackers Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad, he was a good, honest attorney named Jimmy McGill. The show will start six years before Saul meets Walter White, and ought to shed light on what exactly caused McGill’s transformation into Goodman. Along for the ride will be familiar face Jonathan Banks, as Saul’s go-to man Mike Erhmantraut.
There’s every reason to hope that Better Call Saul will be a worthy companion to Breaking Bad in terms of quality entertainment. And, with its premiere date still three months away, it appears that AMC are confident the show will be a hit, as they’ve already ordered a second season.
