Seth Rogen And Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Untitled Christmas Comedy Bumped Up To November 2015

Though Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's untitled Christmas comedy is still over a year away, it's easy to understand our excitement for the project when one looks at all the talent involved. Rogen and Gordon-Levitt are reteaming with their 50/50 director Jonathan Levine for the flick, which also stars Captain America: The Winter Soldier actor Anthony Mackie, Masters of Sex lead Lizzy Caplan and 22 Jump Street scene-stealer Jillian Bell.

Though Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s untitled Christmas comedy is still over a year away, it’s easy to understand our excitement for the project when one looks at all the talent involved.

Now, Sony has announced that it is bumping up the release of the comedy from December 11th to November 25th next year.

The film revolves around three childhood friends (Rogen, Gordon-Levitt and Mackie), who reunite in New York City to continue on an annual Christmas Eve tradition of going out on the town for a night of wild debauchery. As the three look to their future as responsible adults, they agree to end the tradition on a high note by finding the Nutcracker Ball, known to all as the Holy Grail of all Christmas bashes.

Caplan will play Diana, a love interest for Gordon-Levitt’s character, while Bell will take on a more limited supporting role as Betsy, the wife of Rogen’s character, who gives the three buddies a “cornucopia of drugs” to help fuel their Christmas Eve revelries.

Sony hopes that opening the comedy in November will give it greater play time over the holiday season. The move also pits it directly against a competing, albeit extremely different, Christmas-themed project – Universal and Legendary’s horror comedy Krampus. And with Rogen, Gordon-Levitt and Mackie toplining, Sony almost certainly has the edge in that match-up.
