Prior to watching the latest season of Parenthood, I had no idea who Tyson Ritter was. It turns out that I’m likely in the minority. He’s forged a successful career during his time as frontman for All-American Rejects, which has now led to him landing a few small acting gigs. On Parenthood, he played the singer of a band, which was not exactly a huge stretch. Now he’s set to work his acting muscle further, as he’s signed on to appear in British romcom Miss You Already.
Ritter will be heading out to London where the film has already begun its shoot, before production ventures up to the northern part of England. He’ll be joining as the love interest to either Drew Barrymore or Toni Collette, and is said to be “thrilled and humbled to be a part of this compelling project. To work with such exquisite talent behind and in front of the camera is an aspiring actor’s dream.” Today’s news has also given us a broader look at the movie’s plot, outlined below:
Barrymore and Collette star as Milly and Jess, best friends who have shared everything since they were kids. Now, Milly has a high-flying job and lives in a beautiful townhouse with husband Kit (Dominic Cooper) and their two kids. Jess is a town planner and she and her boyfriend Jago (Paddy Considine) live on a bohemian houseboat on a London canal. Their friendship is tested when Jess struggles to have a baby and Milly finds out she has breast cancer.
Sounds like Ritter’s young stud will be poaching from Dominic Cooper or Paddy Considine, and therefore, we can hope for a Colin Firth-Hugh Grant-inspired punch-up akin to those from the Bridget Jones movies.
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen) and written by Morwenna Banks, Miss You Already is slated to hit theatres in October 2015.
