First Image From Miss You Already Has Drew Barrymore And Toni Collette Sharing A Laugh

It's hard to believe that the above image is taken from a Catherine Hardwicke movie. Known for her sombre palette, she's made a name for herself by delving into the darker side of human experience. After her standout hit, spiky teen drama Thirteen, Hardwicke hit the big time when she landed the first Twilight movie. Having left behind the young adult vamp franchise, her next feature Miss You Already looks to be quite a departure.

It’s hard to believe that the above image is taken from a Catherine Hardwicke movie. Known for her sombre palette, she’s made a name for herself by delving into the darker side of human experience. After her standout hit, spiky teen drama Thirteen, Hardwicke hit the big time when she landed the first Twilight movie. Having left behind the young adult vamp franchise, her next feature Miss You Already looks to be quite a departure.

The first image from the movie showcases its two leads, Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore, in a happy snap that’s a million miles away from the ominous teen vamp atmosphere.

Collette and Barrymore co-star as “Milly and Jess, who have been best friends since childhood. Their friendship is put to the test as Jess struggles to have a much longed-for baby and Milly finds out she has breast cancer.” Dominic Cooper, Paddy Considine and Jacqueline Bisset round out the cast in supporting roles.

The film is currently shooting in London after starting production earlier this month. That’s not to say it’s another capitol-set feature, as the shoot is destined to head north to the Yorkshire Moors for part of filming. Hardwicke intends to breathe a new lease of life into the staple English setting, borrowing from her past to aid the process:

“I was trained as an architect and London is flat out inspiring. We’re showing a different side of the city — the collision of old and new that you find on every corner,” Hardwicke said. “To help me pre-visualize the scenes everyone on the crew from the art department to the location managers have acted out the parts of midwives, pregnant women giving birth, and even sheep up in Yorkshire. With a cast that have taken over their roles with ferocity and their special brand of British wit, this film is coming alive.”

Everyone loves British wit, and this writer for one is excited to see the finished product – which won’t be ready for some time.

Miss You Already is set hit theatres in October 2015.
