Lasting from September 26th through to Sunday, September 28th, console owners will be entitled to hop past the paywall free of charge and enjoy all of the unfettered perks of online multiplayer with friends.

In a post over on PlayStation Blog, the company highlighted some of the bigger titles that have been released on the console of late — though it’s worth keeping in mind that this limited promotion applies to all PlayStation 4 games.

“PlayStation Plus is opening up online multiplayer to our PS4 owners, so you all can play with your friends. This gives owners of recent titles like Destiny, Madden NFL 15, FIFA 15 and Diablo III a chance to try out their great multiplayer components.”

Given that Destiny has been enjoying its time in the limelight of late — pulling in $325 million across its first five days — we can readily expect Bungie’s shared-world shooter to be the poster child for this recently-announced promotion.

Of course, it’s worth keeping in mind that this offer only entitles PlayStation 4 users to the online multiplayer arm of the PS Plus subscription, with other services — including cloud storage, the Instant Game Collection and additional discounts across PlayStation Store — remaining behind that aforementioned paywall.

Whether you’re looking to pick up a PlayStation 4 to test the multiplayer component or you’ve just never got round to signing up to the PlayStation Plus service, this weekend will provide an opportune time to test the waters, with the free multiplayer weekend set to kick off on Friday, September 26th.
