It’s only a quick glimpse into what’s turning out to be one of the season’s most-anticipated movies. Already the film has landed rave reviews, placing Inarritu back on the map. Making his first splash in 2000 with Amores Perros, he took to the U.S. for his next run of features. 21 Grams and Babel each employed a disjointed narrative style that placed human tragedy at the heart of their stories. It’s been four years since his last full-length movie, Biutiful, with Javier Bardem.

Will Birdman mark a change in style for the director? We’ll find out when it hits cinemas next month. For now, scope out the clip below and let us know what you think. Isn’t Emma Stone just plain awesome?

Birdman opens on October 17th.

BIRDMAN or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is a black comedy that tells the story of an actor (Michael Keaton) – famous for portraying an iconic superhero – as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself.
