With the Toronto Film Festival now in full flow, we’re beginning to learn more about the nascent projects headed to our cinema screens in the very near future. And another such project to make headway at the annual public showing was Michael Apted’s Unlocked, which recently recruited Orlando Bloom and Michael Douglas.
That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, who state that the duo will join Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace. Alas, not much is known regarding the specifics of Bloom and Douglas’ respective roles; although, we understand that Rapace will lead the charge as a CIA investigator who unintentionally leaks crucial information to a band of terrorists that results in a huge terrorist threat against London.
Currently, Unlocked is due to be presented at the festival in the hope that foreign buyers will express an interest. That responsibility has fallen on one Alex Walton, who spoke with adulation to THR regarding Apted’s latest:
“I am delighted to introduce this fresh, smart European thriller to buyers in Toronto. With three major studio movies in production, Noomi Rapace is becoming one of the hottest female international stars working today. When you add Michael Apted, Michael Douglas and Orlando Bloom, you have a commercial package that I am confident will draw strong interest.”
Apted’s last outing as director was overseeing the Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader back in 2010. Mind you, the British filmmaker plans to get back behind the camera soon rather than later, with Unlocked set to enter production this November courtesy of a script by Peter O’Brien.
