Though moviegoers have expressed their apathy towards the vampire movie recently in a post-Twilight world, it’s easy to forget the cinematic legacy of everyone’s favorite bloodsucking nightcrawler. Particularly in the 90s, where films such as From Dusk Till Dawn, An Interview With A Vampire and, in particular, the Wesley Snipes-led Blade helped cement the vampire’s on-screen image as a true beacon of skin-crawling terror.

Well, according to a report by The New York Daily News, it appears as though the latter horror-infused property is on track to get a reboot of sorts with Blade 4, after the outlet announced that early signs of Snipes returning to the franchise as the titular vigilante were “looking good.”

We’ve known for some time that the American star is passionate about the IP itself and wants to breath new garlic-tinged life into the franchise. That said, a long time has passed since Snipes first adorned that badass leather trench coat in 1998, what with the actor’s well-publicised tax evasion scandal. Nevertheless, after serving a three-year sentence, it would be logical for Snipes to return to his most financially successful film to date following his ensemble role in The Expendables 3.

As part of the report, The New York Daily News also stated that the star would make $3 million from Blade 4 and a portion of the film’s eventual profits. Of course, it’s worth keeping in mind that Marvel still owns the rights to the Blade series, which begs the question whether the studio will choose to recast for Blade 4 should the long-gestating sequel enter production.
