Since Hollywood is fresh out of unique and original ideas, and has been for some time now, it’s time to start turning to classic properties again and next on the list are the Looney Tunes. Titled Acme, the film will be scripted by X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, with Steve Carell attached to star and Crazy, Stupid, Love helmers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa in talks to direct.
Given that the project is still in the early stages of development, plot details are being kept under wraps. That being said, from what we’re hearing, the film will not focus on any of the “familiar Looney Tunes characters” and is leaning more towards being a spinoff. I’m not sure exactly what that means for the direction of Acme, or how it will tie into the already established universe, but it should be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Tell us, are you happy to hear that the Looney Tunes will be getting the feature-film treatment once again? And what do you think of the decision to have Acme be more of a spinoff and not focus on the familiar characters that we all know and love? Sound off below!
