Thanks to a listing on Amazon, Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition has become an official thing, and one that is available for pre-order now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, although you may pre-purchase it today, the sixty-dollar package, with its beautiful cover art and limited edition art book bonus, won’t actually be released until October 14th.
A once-cancelled property, Sleeping Dogs was saved from development Hell by a smart-thinking group of Square Enix representatives, who saw promise in the then unfinished project. It’s something many in the gaming community – myself included – are thankful for, because the version that ended up making it to retail was fantastic. In fact, the game was so good that I couldn’t put it down and ended up giving it a great review score.
What’s great about this visually improved release is that it apparently culls all of the game’s DLC together into one package, offering $85 worth of extra value as a result. At least, that’s what Amazon’s listing says. I’ve yet to do the math, myself.
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition isn’t far off, so check back for more news as it develops.
