Though Slightly Mad Studios’ ultra-realistic and indeed crowd-funded racing simulator, Project Cars, is due to launch across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC come November, the game’s publisher Bandai Namco has confirmed that the Wii U iteration won’t release until 2015.

Taking to Twitter, Lee Kirton, the company’s UK marketing and PR director, confirmed the delay:

Given that Slightly Mad Studios hasn’t published any gameplay footage from the Wii U version hitherto, the status of the port was always in doubt. Exactly how long this delay will become remains to be seen, though it seems that the Wii U faithful will have to wait a little while longer for a hyper-realistic driving sim.

Initially, Project Cars was confined to last-gen consoles. However, as development progressed, Slightly Mad Studios decided to pull the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, which thereby facilitated support for SteamOS and Oculus Rift. Moreover, the developing studio also confirmed back in March that the game will support Sony’s Project Morpheus.

At this time, it’s unclear exactly when Project Cars will appear on Nintendo’s Wii U, although PS4, Xbox One and PC owners can look for Slightly Mad Studios’ visually impressive racer come November.
