For years, fans have been rallying for a proper video game based on the Alien film franchise, which revolutionized the sci-fi genre and scared the pants off of generations of moviegoers. While Aliens: Colonial Marines was a slap in the face with a thumbtack taped to the palm, us scorned fans have our hopes up for the upcoming Alien: Isolation. Following Ripley’s daughter Amanda, the game promises to deliver a survival-horror experience on par with the original film’s intensely terrifying game of cat-and-mouse.
As if developers Creative Assembly weren’t spoiling fans enough already, they’ve just announced that Sigourney Weaver will be reprising her role as Ellen Ripley for a DLC chapter that follows the crew of the Nostromo during their first encounter with the Xenomorph.
Joining Weaver is a majority of the original cast, including Tom Skerritt, Yaphet Kotto, Harry Dean Stanton and Veronica Cartwright. Only John Hurt and Ian Holm won’t be returning, as the expansion (titled Crew Expendable) takes place after the death of Brett.
The expansion will allow players to experience the iconic alien invasion as Ripley, as well as Captain Dallas and Parker. A second DLC mission will take place towards the end of the film as Ripley is attempting to activate the Nostromo’s self-destruct sequence and escape the ship in one piece. The Crew Expendable DLC will be available to anyone who pre-orders the game, as their copy will be upgraded to the “Nostromo Edition” for free.
A trailer for the DLC was posted by IGN and can be seen below. If those few moments of revisiting the Nostromo get your heart pumping, then be sure to get your pre-order set and pick up Alien: Isolation when it’s released on October 7 for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and Windows.
