Less than a month after their latest title was released, Airtight Games has quietly closed its Redmond based headquarters. The Murdered: Soul Suspect developer’s former office space has been locked up and all remaining office equipment is currently in the process of being sold off.

Formed in 2004 by a group of industry veterans fresh off the excellent Xbox title, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, Airtight Games worked with several big name publishers during their lifespan. The company developed the jetpack-based shooter Dark Void with Capcom and the quirky puzzle-platformer Quantum Conundrum with Square Enix.

Airtight Games previously had a small number of layoffs at the start of 2014, although the moves were described as “part of a necessary restructuring” at the time. Company president Jim Deal also confirmed to IGN at the time that all projects were on schedule and that “Airtight Games is actively seeking partners for exciting upcoming projects.”

Regardless of what you thought about the company, it is always unfortunate to see a developer go under. While Airtight Games’ titles weren’t always the most polished, they all were unique in their own way. This is just the latest example of how unforgiving the gaming industry can be at times.

Our thoughts are with those who now find themselves out of work. Hopefully those affected will be able to secure new employment shortly.
