Community Unveils Inspired Six Seasons And A Movie Poster Campaign

Now that Community has concluded its brilliant, creatively revitalized fifth season with showrunner Dan Harmon back at the helm, it's time for fans of the cult comedy, which always seems to be on the cancellation bubble over at NBC due to its low ratings, to rally again behind the cry of "Six seasons and a movie." That Twitter handle, coined by breakout character Abed Nadir (Danny Pudi) in a season two episode, has become one of the show's most enduring contributions to social media (up there with "Streets ahead" and "Cool cool cool").

Now that Community has concluded its brilliant, creatively revitalized fifth season with showrunner Dan Harmon back at the helm, it’s time for fans of the cult comedy, which always seems to be on the cancellation bubble over at NBC due to its low ratings, to rally again behind the cry of “Six seasons and a movie.” That Twitter handle, coined by breakout character Abed Nadir (Danny Pudi) in a season two episode, has become one of the show’s most enduring contributions to social media (up there with “Streets ahead” and “Cool cool cool”).

As NBC weighs the pros and cons of renewing Community for the sixth season that Harmon and cast members have promised fans for years, several of the show’s actors have taken to social media to voice their support for another season in a befittingly awesome way. Referencing some of the films that Community has referenced, parodied or paid homage to throughout its seasons, this poster campaign is one of the most thoroughly enjoyable communications between a show’s cast and its audience that we’ve seen in some time.

Among the parodied titles in the poster campaign, which you can check out below, are The Social NetworkCast AwayThe Fifth Element and The Magnificent Seven. The Cast Away poster in particular is interesting, seeing as it features recently departed cast member Donald Glover (who played Abed’s goofy partner in crime, Troy Barnes). One of the many teases that Harmon has given for season six is a potential return for Glover, who left the show for a multitude of reasons, including personal issues, last year.

If you haven’t seen Community yet, now’s the time to start watching. It’s one of the funniest and most innovative comedies on TV, led by what is undoubtedly the strongest ensemble comedy cast on the air right now.
